Family counseling

Adolescent and teen years are complicated for both parents and teens. As parents, you may wonder what has happened to the child you once knew. There is a delicate balance of holding on and letting go. At the end of the day, your child needs you. Family sessions support the parent and the child to work together to improve their relationship. The family unit must work and change together.

Confidentiality can be challenging for parents to understand when their child sees a counselor. Please understand that in order for the therapeutic relationship to develop, adolescents and teens need to feel that they are able to share their thoughts and feelings without fear of disclosure to parents. As a team, we can work together to decide what is and is not appropriate to share.

Academic support and consultation

Middle school and high school years come with a variety of challenges. There is incredible stress to perform and achieve at a high level. Because of my background in teaching and my role as a school counselor, I have a unique set of skills that I can employ to support adolescents in both their academic and social lives.

I am also well versed in the area of Special Education and can provide support for both student and family in times of academic difficulty.

Technology/Social Media Support

Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube, Online Gaming, etc. It seems like adolescents are constantly facing a world filled with screens. They use it as a way to socialize and connect. And, it can become a source of stress and anxiety, both for our kids and their parents. I can help you and your child to develop ways to communicate and avoid the arguments that can come with technology use and misuse.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is effective in that is provides participants with a shared experience. They can learn from each other through dynamic and interactive sessions. Please see my page, Boys Council, for more information about the group opportunity I provide.
